Today was our first visit to Forest School. We were all sure excited about getting our purple suits and welly boots on. It was raining a little bit as we left school but just as we arrived, it absolutely poured it down!! Luckily we had the canopy up and we all got underneath it quickly. The rain was coming down so hard it was really noisy under the canopy. We stayed underneath until the rain eased off, it was great fun, a bit like being in a big tent. The rain had left us some giant muddy puddles and we had fun exploring the site. Lets hope the weather is a bit kinder to us next week!
Today the sun shone and we had a fantastic morning at Forest School. We enjoyed climbing the trees and searching for minibeasts. We found lots of worms and slugs. We had a hot chocolate and some of us dunked our biscuits!
We took some water with us today and enjoyed playing in the mud kitchen. We made mud soup and strawberry jelly. It was really cold so we needed our extra layers on. Mrs Matthews had 3 pairs of socks on and 2 hats!
This week we took lots of tarpaulins with us and made lots of shelters before the rain came. We used string and pegs to secure them and ate our snack inside our new dens. Unfortunately, Mrs Matthews forgot the IPad so we couldn't take any pictures. Oops!
Today was our first really sunny day at Forest School. Miss Clarke had put up a new rope swing and we had great fun using it. Some of us used the saw with Mrs Matthews to cut some wood. We used the saw horse to keep the wood steady and listened carefully to the instructions.
This week the sun came out and we had a great time jumping in the muddy puddles. One of the children had made bird feeders in Christmas shapes so we put them around Forest School. Next time we go, we can see if anyone has been eating them.
Mr Taylor is making us something but he won't tell us what it is. We had great fun guessing what it will be. Watch this space!
