Welcome to all the new children that started at Ham Dingle this week. We also welcome their families, some of whom, we already know. Keep watching this site to see what we have been doing in Reception. We are looking forward to working with you all.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask a member of the Reception team.
We have had a very busy week learning all the new routines of school. We’ve made lots of new friends and learnt lots of new names.
This week we have been looking at repeated patterns. Some of us used shapes to make a pattern and some children drew their own patterns using chalk.
This week we have learnt how to be a Safety Officer. We have to put on the special jacket and check the classroom is safe. The sheet on our clipboard helps us to check everything. We push the trays in, pick the coats up off the floor, push the chairs under and put the rubbish in the bin. We even check the scissors are pointing the right way.
We look after each other in Reception and the Safety Officer helps us all.
We have been preparing for our Harvest Assembly. We went on an Autumn walk to collect leaves then made crowns and leaf pictures. Our homework this week produced some fantastic pieces of work. A big thank you to all the adults that helped us.
This year marks the 100th Anniversary since the end of the First World war. The whole school made poppies to add to large display boards in the shape of 100. We made our poppies by printing with apples. We also made our own Poppy badges and thought why we wear them.
Brogan - "The poppies are for the soldiers, some came home and some didn't come home."
Harry - "We have poppies because the men had to go away and fight."
Nafissa - "Poppies are badges to wear for people that died in the war."
We celebrated Children in Need day by making Pudsey biscuits, making hats and colouring in Pudsey. We had a cake sale and put silver coins on a giant Pudsey head.
Mrs Penn is a special helper for Santa and she brought us back a picture of when she went to the North Pole. Santa also gave her some special Elves for us to look after. We have enjoyed looking after the Elves and writing to Santa.
Thank you to all our parents and grandparents who have helped us with the Nativity play this year. The costumes were amazing and we really enjoyed performing it.
Merry Christmas to you all.
Today we had our Christmas Dinner together in the hall. We all sat together, pulled our crackers and listened to the Christmas songs. Merry Christmas everyone.
